Recording something over again

The very last recordings for the upcoming Cesair album were some lead vocals. Monique sang a verse for a song that we were somehow never really happy with. I’m glad she asked me to do a new recording. I am always in favour for spending extra time for something that might seem small, but that can make all the difference.

Monique adjusted the lyrics and melody a little, and we got to refine it even further during the recordings. We talked about how important it is to create an atmosphere were both her and me feel comfortable to try things out and make suggestions. Many factors come in to play: from technical ones like a comfortable sound in the headphones, to the simple gestures of lighting some candles or suggesting a break.
