Men still dominate the music industry. With this EP titled Manners, Beryl Anne shows that things can be different. Four catchy indie-pop songs written, produced, mixed, and mastered exclusively by women. The feeling of having to operate within certain boundaries and not getting equal opportunities will be familiar to many women. The title Manners stands for breaking through established norms and behaviors. Beryl Anne did this by stepping outside her network of male musicians and producers to find women to produce a record with. This proved to be a challenge, but resulted in a strong EP.
Manners was created in collaboration with producer and songwriter Tessa Rose Jackson (aka Someone) and recorded in her studio in Amsterdam. Each song was written with a different female artist. You’ll hear Áslaug, Anna Rune, and HEBE on the record, as well as Annemarie van den Born, who played drums. The tracks were mixed by Fieke van den Hurk and mastered by Grammy Award winner Darcy Proper.
